Mended Heart Ministries Received Grant

With plans of replenishing the local food bank, funding the ministries and more, Larry Moore of Mended Heart Ministries accepted a “working here fund” grant through FCSAmerica/Frontier Farm Grant last Thursday, February 1.

The “working here fund” grant program began in 2013 and has awarded more than 1,157 grants, or more than $2 million, throughout a five-state area since the program began. Grants are awarded to programs that focus on agriculture education, hunger and nutrition, young and beginning producer programs and rural disaster/essential services.

The program includes two grant programs, ranging up to $10,000. One of the programs focuses more on short-term projects including community gardens, 4-H and FFA chapter projects, food bank needs, backpack programs, grain bin rescue equipment, CASE curricula, and drone technology for the classroom.
