Greenwood County Veterans Among USD 252 Honor Flight

Two Greenwood County residents, along with 23 other Veterans, were honored last week when they traveled to Washington, D.C. with the USD 252, Southern Lyon County, Honor Flight.

Eureka resident Steve Spore and Hamilton resident Wayne Bailey were among the 25 Veterans who made the quick two-day trip that was crammed full of activities. Those on the honor flight were able to tour many sites, including the Arlington National Cemetery, the White House, Capitol and Smithsonian Museum.

A select few, including Spore and Bailey, were selected to place a wreath on the tomb of the unknown soldier during a special ceremony. Spore noted that this event, and the reception lines at the airports, were the most memorable portions of the trips.
