Flag Presentation Held At Marshall Elementary

A United States flag that once flew in Kuwait was presented to Eureka USD 389, during the special Veterans Day assembly at Marshall Elementary last Friday, November 9. A 2011 Eureka graduate and current Sergeant with the Army National Guard, Caleb Nitcher, wanted to give back to Eureka after the June 26 tornado. Sergeant Nitcher, who is currently serving in Kuwait, was unable to assist in clean up efforts but knew the school took a hit. While thinking of his former hometown, Sergeant Nitcher came up with the idea of sending a flag from his platoon to fly proudly at McGinnis Field.

“When I look at the flag it reminds me what we have done here while overseas. The missions we have done and soldiers all around here that we have lost. I want the flag to do the same for everyone else. I want it to motivate and inspire students and citizens alike,” Nitcher stated.
