Board To Continue With Bond Election
After two special meetings, the Eureka USD 389 board of education approved to pursue a bond election in January 2019, which would allow for the district to build a Community Activity Center that is bigger and better than the one damaged in the June 26 tornado. The board also agreed to replace the football field with sod.
Earlier this month, the board viewed a proposal that would increase the size of the CAC, as well as connect Eureka Junior Senior High School to the CAC on the west side. The proposal also moved the track slightly to the southeast and extended the lanes to eight, to make it regulated for post-season action with KSHSAA; moving the home bleachers to the west side; adding a concession stand/ ticket booth at the north end of the field, thus having one entrance to the field; and adding the Community Activity Center to EJSHS.
