It’s widely accepted that a year is 365 days long. However, that statement is not entirely accurate. In fact, it takes Earth a little more than 365 days (365.24223 days to be precise) to orbit the sun. A calendar cannot accommodate that small distinction every year. In order to ensure that seasons do not start drifting from the difference between the Earth’s rotation and the time it takes to get around the sun, leap years were established to keep the calendar more consistent and working like clockwork. Madison Bulldog Basketball Advances To Semifinals
The Madison Bulldogs basketball teams began their sub-state tournament with wins last week, as both the girls and boys defeated Yates Center. The boys (#3, 9-10) defeated the Wildcats 5817 last Thursday and advance to semifinal action against Colony-Crest #2, 10-9 on Thursday, Feb. 29, TBD. The girls (#3, 14-5) defeated Yates Center 62-21 last Friday and will face the Eagles of Olpe (#2, 15-4) on Friday, March 1, at 6 p.m. Both semifinal games will be held at Rosalia- Flinthills. The winners will advance to the championship round on Saturday, March 2, at Rosalia. The boys championship game will be held at 5 p.m., with the girls championship game following at 6:30 p.m. 02/27/2024 11:00 PM
