ELK COUNTY – Does your local Elk County non-profit organization need funds for a special or on-going project? Are you looking for a way to give back and support your Elk County community? The Elk County Community Foundation (ECCF) is currently engaged in a $70,000 Match Event with the Patterson Family Foundation (PFF) help. ECCF represents Elk Falls, Longton, Moline, Grenola, Howard and Severy. Every community in our area has projects and local non-profit organi-zations that could use support. Kansas Rural Preservation Grant Applications Now Available
TOPEKA— The Kansas Historical Society announced that applications are now available for the Kansas Rural Preservation grant program. This June marks the eightieth anniversary of the Allied invasion of Normandy, widely-referred to as D-Day, during World War II. On June 6, 1944, more than 160,000 Allied forces landed on the beaches of Normandy in France. The Normandy landings were the largest seaborne invasion in history and marked the culmination of planning that began in 1943. D-Day is often characterized as a success that led to the liberation of Europe from the stranglehold of the Nazis, and rightfully so.
