Fiber Internet Coming To Eureka
Residents and businesses in Eureka will soon have access to highspeed, reliable fiber-optic internet thanks to a grant awarded to IdeaTek Telcom, who was one of eight internet service providers (ISPs) in the latest round of the Broadband Acceleration Grants. The grant awarded $5 million to those ISPs which will be paired with an additional $6.6 million in matching funds, resulting in an investment of nearly $12 million for high-speed broadband access projects across 10 rural Kansas counties.

New Directional Sign Erected Last Wednesday On Main Street
More than a decade ago, city officials started looking at new signage ideas; however, due to funding options, the project didn’t move forward. That was until the City of Eureka applied for a Strategic Economic Expansion and Development (SEED) grant and was awarded funds towards the directional s i g n a g e project as well as three projects for county libraries.

City Of Eureka To Receive $140,000 In Federal Safety Grants
EUREKA – Governor Laura Kelly announced that Eureka has been awarded $140,000 in federal funding in the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant program. The funds will be used to help improve safety and prevent deaths and serious injuries on local roadways.

Third Annual Business/Building Christmas Decorating Contest
Eureka Main Street, along with Travel and Tourism, is sponsoring a business/ building Christmas decorating contest in the coming weeks. Businesses/ buildings on Main Street will compete against one another while businesses/ buildings on River Street will compete against each other. Those wishing to participate must sign up at the City Clerk’s Office by this Friday, December 1.

Fancy Mustangs To Host Christmas Dinner
This Saturday, December 2, the Fancy Mustangs 4-H Club will host their second annual Christmas Dinner at Memorial Hall, in Eureka. The public is invited to join in the Christmas spirit by joining the club for a meal (including steak, green beans and a potato) with live music to follow. There is a fee to attend this event. For more information contact your favorite Fancy Mustang 4-H club member.
