Eureka Pro Rodeo August 16 & 17
PRCA Rodeo action will once again be in Eureka next weekend, Friday, Aug. 16 and Saturday, Aug. 17. Gates will open at 6 p.m. both nights, with Mutton Bustin’ for ages 6 and under beginning at 7 p.m. Sign up will be on the south side of the concession stand and participation is limited to the first 20 riders. Rodeo performances will begin at 8 p.m. both nights.

Notable Moments From Past Summer Olympics
The world is treated to a sports-related spectacle every four summers and in 2024 the celebration of competition and competitors known as the Summer Olympics returns in Paris. Athletes from across the globe have gathered in France to compete for their home countries this summer and fans are turning in to see who takes home the gold in a variety of sports.

USD 389 Enrollment August 8
Enrollment for Eureka USD 389 will be held on Thursday, Aug. 8. Students in Pre-Kindergarten through grade 6 can visit Marshall Elementary School, located at 1015 N. Jefferson, while enrollment for grades 7 through 12 will be held at Eureka Junior/Senior High School (815 N. Jefferson). Both schools will hold enrollment from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Eureka Library Moving To New Circulation System
The Eureka Public Library (EPL) is moving to the SEKnFind library consortium on Monday, Aug. 12. SEKnFind is managed by the Southeast Kansas Library System. Over 50 libraries are members of SEKnFind, sharing a single automated system for the catalog and circulation systems. What does this mean?

ECKMT To Meet Thursday, Aug. 8
The East Central Kansas Model T Club meets the 2nd Thursday of the month. The ECKMTs will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8 in the conference room of the Burlington Library. The library is located on Highway 75 in Burlington. The main entrée and drinks will be provided. Those attending are asked to bring a side dish to share with the meal which will be eaten before the meeting.
