Hughes Named State Champion; Hare And Valentine State Runners-Up
Four Eureka Tornado High School students ventured to Horton High School on Saturday, March 23, for the State Powerlifting meet. Tornado freshman Mason Hughes (114) claimed a state title and Eureka junior Olivia Valentine (132) and sophomore Peyton Hare (225) were both named runner-up in their weight classes.

Local 4-Hers Competed At Regional 4-H Club Days
On Saturday, March 23, Greenwood County 4-H members traveled to Madison to compete at Regional 4-H Club Days. After qualifying at the County 4-H Club Days on Feb. 12, youth had the chance to show off their public speaking skills, parliamentary knowledge, talents and demonstrated knowledge gained within theirprojects.Thecompeting counties at Regionals are Flint Hills District (Chase and Morris Counties), Lyon County, Greenwood County, Coffey County and the Rolling Prairie District (Elk and Chautauqua Counties).

– submitted by Stacy Randle, secretary The Greenwood County Fair Association (GCFA) Board of Directors meeting was held on Feb. 6, immediately following the annual Stockholders meeting. Directors present included: President Dr. Kailey Fitzmorris, Vice President Justin Branine, Secretary Stacy Randle, Treasurer Tom Perrier, Jamie Nelson, Dr. Harold Garner, Craig Miller and Linda Snyder. Director Garry Edmondson was absent.
