Science Experiments or Holiday Candy?
Sometimes when making candy, it can feel like a food science experiment. According to K-State food scientist, Karen Blakeslee, “Candy is basically divided into two categories: crystalline or non-crystalline.” Fudge is an example of a crystalline candy that requires special attention during the cooking process.

Fruit tree bark is a tasty alternative, and often favorite, food source for mice in the winter. Mice will chew through the outer layer of bark at the base of trees. Heavy feeding from the mice reduces the trees’ ability to transport food to the roots and can result in death.

Just Thinkin’
I yawned and wondered how much of my life had been consumed watching commercials on television. ‘Wasted’ was the first verb that came to mind, but given thought, ‘consumed’ was the more accurate. Television commercials stimulate me.
