Patricia (Sutcliffe/Burger) Cress, 96, of Howard passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2026, at the Eureka Nursing Center. Patricia was born March 2, 1930, in Deerfield, Ohio, the daughter of Earl and Elizabeth (Jones) Sutcliffe.
Perhaps all of her children are prejudice, but they felt Patricia was an awesome mother. She was a great cook and baker. Patricia and her husband Bill had several restaurants over the years. One of those was a popular truck stop, and truckers don’t just eat anywhere.
She worked hard during her working years and enjoyed traveling with her friends in retirement. Though she spent her last years in Kansas, she longed and missed Arizona. She will certainly be missed, but we celebrate her being with the Lord and the happy reunion she is having with relatives and friends. As she often expressed that some day she could have that reunion with all of her family and friends.
Survivors include: children: Tonna (Dan) Hines, Charles (Marilyn) Burger, Lindsey Burger, and Wendy (Don) Cross; grandchildren: Tina (John) Smith, Alyssa Burger, Andrew Burger, Angela (Scott) Lindell, Jean (Jesse) Tuck, John Sauer, Jeremy Sauer, Christina (Jeff) Slocum, Casey (Sheryn) Burger, RJ Burger, Jennifer (Lon) Koningsor, Melissa (Ben) Schaper, and Melinda (Darin) Myers; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Suzanne Burger and siblings: Joy Kennedy and Gene Sutcliffe.
Cremation has been requested with a Celebration of Life Service being held by the family on Friday, October 16, 2026, at 1 p.m. at the Severy Church of Nazarene. Memorials in her memory have been suggested to the Severy Church of Nazarene and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
