Madison High School Alumni Weekend CelebratesTradition and Community
Bulldog fans young and old enjoyed the weekend festivities.

Madison High School’s annual Alumni Weekend was held Sept. 25-27 bringing together generations of Bulldogs for a celebration of school spirit, memories, and community.

Festivities kicked off Friday evening with the Homecoming football game and tailgating. The Madison Masonic Lodge served a delicious meal to alumni and guests, who packed the stands to cheer on the Bulldogs in a thrilling OT victory over Crest. Admission was free, with the help of the Friends of Kenny Elrod, Class of 1977, a beloved alum remembered fondly as Madison’s “Head Dawg.” Fans were also treated to a mix of students and alumni in the pep band, which also debuted a new drum set, courtesy of the Rawlings family.

The highlight of the weekend was Saturday night’s Alumni Dinner, attended by over 135 alumni and guests. The Class of 1976 was honored as this year’s featured class. John Wernli opened the evening with a blessing, followed by a catered meal from Smokin O’s (Russ and Owen Reed and family).

The highlight of the evening was Paul Hosack and Karen Erickson Hosack’s presentation on the Class of 1976, sharing a comedic reflection on life 50 years ago. Other notable presentations included:

•Dallas Woolf, Madison’s superintendent, who shared updates from USD 386.

•Daryl May (Class of 1990), who spoke on the scholarship efforts of the Madison Education Assistance Fund (MEAF).

•Pastor Bob Robinson, who shared a few bios of MHS alumni killed in action while serving in the military.

•A memorial tribute honored alumni from Madison, Virgil, and Lamont who passed in the last year.

Roll call followed, along with awards:

•Oldest Alumni in Attendance: Drew Huber (Class of 1951)

•Youngest Alumni in Attendance: Ester Knobloch (Class of 2001)

•Furthest Traveled: Jeff McClelland (Class of 1987), who traveled in from Michigan.

The evening concluded with heartfelt appreciation from host Jane Cookson Linhart (Class of 1982), and the announcement that next year’s honored class will be the Class of 1977.

Positive feedback poured in from attendees, and plans are already underway to make next year’s event even more memorable. Photos from the evening will be posted soon on the Madison High School Alumni – KS Facebook page.
