Joyce Kathryn Davis was born between Highway 96 and Highway 54 on a farm in rural Butler County. Her parents were Oral and Fred Davis. She graduated from Leon High School in 1959.
She married Robert Lewis Wells in 1961. Joyce and Robert had 3 children: Ronnie Lee born in 1962, Jody Kathleen born in 1964 and Marcella Viola born in 1966. They ran a truck stop in Rosalia, KS. Joyce also had 4 step-children from Robert’s first marriage: Carolyn, MaryAnnette, Randy and Roger. Robert and Marcella died in an auto accident in 1969. Randy died at 16 in an auto accident in 1972(?).
