The West Elk Patriots faced a tough Oswego team last Friday, Oct. 2, falling to the Indians, 8-54.
West Elk scored their only touchdown in the second quarter, on a 44-yard pass from Jaxson Bogdahn to Michael Best. The two-point conversion was successful by Bogdahn.
Oswego scored 24 points in both the first and second quarters. They added six points in the third to conclude the game.
“Oswego completely dominated us in all facets of the game. They are on another level than we are right now. We did have a couple bright spots on offense. We were able to move the ball at times and had a couple explosive plays. We couldn't sustain it to put the ball in the end zone,” stated coach Ian Denton.
The Patriots will travel to Yates Center this Friday, Oct. 9 to face the Wildcats. “Yates Center is a big physical team that can run it and throw it well. We will need to play really sound at the line of scrimmage to have success. We should have a couple kids back from injury which should help our preparation and performance,” stated Denton.
