Bulldogs Move To 4-1 With Victory Over Sedan

Bulldogs Move To 4-1 With Victory Over Sedan
Brayden Grimmett (#0) Found Room To Run

Last Friday night’s match up started off a little quiet with neither Madison or Sedan finding many opportunities offensively.

Sedan’s first drive of the game took them all the way down the field and just when it looked as if they were about to score, Madison’s Brayden Grimmett pushed them back on 4th down and Madison took over on downs.

A big run by Cooper Luthi was brought back with a holding flag and the Bulldogs were forced to punt but, a Sedan fumble gave the ball right back to Madison on their own 34-yard line.

The Bulldogs were rolling after a nice pass from Cooper Luthi to Grimmett for a first-down. The play also resulted in a critical injury to Grimmett, as he left the game with a broken arm.

Madison continued the drive, with Cooper Luthi scoring on a quarterback sneak. The Bulldogs converted the extra two points to take an 8-0 lead with 3:35 remaining in the first quarter.

Cooper Luthi picked up where he left off in the second with another short touchdown run. The two point conversion attempt failed but Madison was on top, 14-0.

On the kickoff, Sedan botched the recovery and Bentley Shaw was there to recover for the Bulldogs.

After a long run by Cooper Luthi, Mason McDonald finished it off with his first touchdown run of the night. The extra points were denied again but Madison was still in control, 20-0. Sedan finally found their way into the end zone with seconds left before the half and gained some ground with a 20-6 halftime score.

The Bulldogs would have the ball to open the third. Cooper Luthi wasted little time finding his way into pushing the lead to 286.

Sedan finished the quarter with a score and the fourth quarter was back and forth on scoring drives, but Sedan couldn’t close the gap.

The final two Bulldog scoring plays of the night were Luthi getting his fourth and final touchdown and McDonald picking up his second on the night with a Sedan score in the midst of the scoring frenzy. The Bulldogs finished with a 42-20 victory and move to 4-1.

Cooper Luthi was 8 for 10 passing for 122 yards. The recipient of most of the passes was Cory Yowell with 7 receptions for 116-yards.

Cooper Luthi had 20 carries for 181-yards and 4 touchdowns. McDonald had 2 touchdowns on 14 carries for 124-yards. Yowell had 37-yards on 4 carries and Grimmett had 1 carry for 16-yards before the injury.

On defense, a lot of Bulldogs stepped up to the plate in big ways. Colter Luthi had 17 tackles, Mason Martin 14, McDonald 13, Cooper Luthi 11, Wyat Boone with 10 to lead the defensive stats.

The Bulldogs will travel to Moran on Friday, Oct. 9.
