Mustangs Claimed Road Win Over Sedan; To Host Homecoming This Friday

The Flinthills Mustangs dominated the Blue Devils at Sedan last Friday, Sept. 25, winning the game 52-6.

The team lead 14-0 after the first and 36-6 at halftime, with the game being called in the third quarter as the Mustangs added 16 in the third stanza.

Starting quarterback Tripp Carney returned for the Mustangs and had his best performance of the season. He completed 3 of 7 passes for 94 yards and recorded 2 touchdowns. Carney also had 90 yards rushing on 14 carries and a touchdown. Carney’s impact could also be felt on the defensive side of the ball. He finished the night with 9 tackles, and 2 of them were driveenders for Sedan.

“The offensive line, made up of Coltin Dragoo, Dane Edwards, Lane Jenkins, and Jake Scribner, along with tight end Deken Girty, has led the rushing attack this season,” stated coach Chase Casteel. “Through 4 weeks, the Mustangs’ O-line has led the rushing attack,” he continued. The Mustangs have run the ball 116 times for 1,211 yards, averaging 10.5 yards per carry and averaging 303 yards per game with 21 rushing touchdowns.

Beau Hall had just under 250 yards on 16 carries and 4 rushing touchdowns. Hall also had 2 receptions for 91 yards and 2 touchdowns. After putting up 7 TDs last week against Burden, he answered with another 6 this week against Sedan.

Senior defensive end, Kolter Flores, led the team in tackles with 11. He also had 2 sacks for a total of 18 yards lost for Sedan.

As a team, the team rushed 35 times for a total of 379 yards. Hall lead the team with 241 yards, Carney had 105 and Farris 33.

Defensively, the team recorded 59 tackles, with Kolter Flores leading the way with 11, Carney 9, Hall 8 and Dragoo and Girty each with 7. Flores recorded 2 sacks, while Dragoo added 1.

The Mustangs will face Marmaton Valley next week at home for their Homecoming event. Both teams currently sit tied for number one in District 1 for 8 Man Division II. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m.
