Joel and Karsyn Miller, and their young daughter Laney’s lives were turned upside down one evening in late August when they got the call that their home was on fire.
Although the house did not completely burn down, almost everything was lost due to smoke and water damage.
The family of three is currently residing with family and have recently purchased a home in Madison but are having to start completely over.
Friends and family are planning a benefit for them in Madison on Saturday, Oct. 10.
The day will start with Goat Roping at the Miller’s land located east of Madison at 3638 Y Road.
The event gets started at 2 p.m. to start signing up. Practice sessions will start at 2:30 p.m. for $10 per person.
At 3 p.m. the Breakaway Jackpot starts followed by Team Roping Jackpot at 3:30 p.m.
The fundraising efforts will continue later that evening at The Ranch Bar and Grill in Madison with a dinner being served at 6 p.m. The night will conclude with a silent auction and live music beginning at 8:30 p.m.
Joel’s sister Jessica Miller McMaster is helping with the event and aims to help her brother and family get back on their feet.
“This fundraiser will try to help ease their burden by raising funds for essential kitchen, bedroom, and furniture items. Prayers are very welcome. A big thank you to everyone who donated their time for clean-up, donations, clothing, and toys—they were an immense help and are greatly appreciated. Every donation and act of kindness means so much to our family. We feel very blessed to have so much love and support,” she said.
