Homecoming festivities for Eureka Junior/Senior High School will begin on Monday of next week as spirit week kicks off.
Spirit days for Homecoming week, Sept. 21-25, are as follows: Monday: Dreaming of Those Days (Wear PJs); Tuesday: Y2K Neon Day (Lip Gloss Poppin and Neon Glowin’); Wednesday - On Wednesdays we wear Pink!; Throwback Thursday (Dress like your parents in high school); Friday - Legacy Red & Blue (school colors/ try to wear vintage Tornado gear).
Homecoming royalty, voted on by students in grades nine through twelve, was announced last week. Pictured above, from left to right, are Queen candidates (front row): Maela Neill, Elizabeth Foth, Elyssa Wood, Elle Coulter and Kinlee Sanchez; and King candidates (back row): Cruz Escareno, Cooper Roberson, Tyson Coon, Christian Andrews and Mason Hughes. The crown bearers for this year’s event are Rufus Cross and Aspen McCalla, first graders at Marshall Elementary School.
On Wednesday, Sept. 23, the community is invited to attend a special pep rally, that will include Ironman volleyball games, Homecoming candidate games, and the annual senior football jersey auction. The event is slated to begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Tornado Activity Center (TAC).
A special assembly will be held at 1:30 p.m., next Friday, where the King and Queen will be crowned. The EHS class of 1977 will be recognized. The annual parade will follow at approximately 2 p.m. This year’s Grand Marshals are Bill and Janel Castle.
The Eureka Tornado football team will take on Bluestem on Friday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m. To conclude the Homecoming festivities, a dance for high school students will be held from 9:30-11:30 p.m.
