On behalf of the Susannah French Putney chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) we would like to invite you to check out the Constitution week displays at the Eureka Public Library, and the Greenwood County Historical Society this week.
Constitution Week 2026 is Sept. 17-23. Constitution Week was signed into law by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956, following the petition brought forth by DAR. The week is dedicated to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution as the supreme law of the land in 1787 and teaching its significance to new generations.
The Constitution begins with the Preamble. Do you know it? Have you spoken to your children and others about it?
The Preamble
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
