Final Rodeo Weekend Held With 85 Contestants Representing Four States
Top HandYouth Rodeo Contestants

The 2026 Top Hand Youth Rodeo Association (THYRA) concluded its season with the annual finals rodeo held on Sept. 5 and 6. A total of 85 contestants comprised 260 entries, representing four states.

Following are the weekend finals winners: Peewee Boys - Monroe Johnson - Mound City; Peewee Girls - Tegan Johnson - Blue Mound; Junior Boys - Ralin Rapp -Rockville, Mo.; Junior Girls - Clara Greenwood - El Dorado; Intermediate Boys - Kamdon Barnett – Iola; Intermediate Girls - Dally Umphenour – Pleasanton; Senior Boys - Brock Baumgartel – Severy; Senior Girls - Bayleigh Benjamin – Toronto.

Following are the 2026 Year-End All-Around Winners, each received a custom saddle and belt buckle: Peewee Boys - Monroe Johnson - Mound City; Peewee Girls - Oaklynn Wedman

– Piedmont; Junior Boys - Reagan Schoneberg - Edgar, Neb.; Junior Girls - Clara Greenwood El Dorado; Intermediate Boys - Kamdon Barnett – Iola; Intermediate Girls - Dally Umphenour – Pleasanton; Senior Boys - Brock Baumgartel – Severy; Senior Girls - Hope Miller – Madison.

Following are the 2026 Year-End Reserve All-Around Winners: Peewee Boys - McCrae Johnson - Mound City; Peewee Girls - Tegan Johnson - Blue Mound; Junior Boys - Sterling Mahlandt – Udall; Junior Girls - Dally Kraft – Gridley; Intermediate Boys - Macoy Schoneberg - Edgar, Neb.; Intermediate Girls - Mayley Decker – Eureka; Senior Boys - Heath Schull – Parker; Senior Girls - Bayleigh Benjamin – Toronto.

On Saturday, Sept. 5, the THYRA hosted a Pizza Party and an Adult Barrel Race. On Sunday, Sept. 6, the Finals Banquet, Meal and Awards Ceremony at the Greenwood County Community Center, also known as Eureka Downs to present All-Around, and Reserve All-Around Awards including saddles to the All-Around winners. Buckles to Finals and Year End event winners and prizes for contestants.

The Shannon Family of Humboldt was selected as this year’s Top Hand for the Year award.

The following dates for 2027 were announced: May 22-23, June 12-13, July 3-4, Aug. 7-8, Aug. 14- 15(Rain Date) and Finals – Sept. 4-5.
