The Lady Tornado golf team is off to a strong start, as they claimed back-toback first place team finishes in the first two tournaments of the season, which were both nine-hole rounds.
On Wednesday of last week, the Lady Tornado golf team claimed championship honors at its home meet.
The team finished with a team score of 231, 10 strokes ahead of Circle, who placed second. Caney Valley was third with a 242.
Eureka’s Celona Hall tied for 2nd, with a 51.
Lady Tornadoes Madalyn Langer and Natalie Pennington tied for 6th with scores of 56.
Lady Tornado Sara Endress shot a 68.
Council Grove’s Desiree Bachura claimed top individual honors with a score of 48. A total of 32 golfers competed with the following schools being represented: Eureka, Circle, Caney Valley, Andover, Neodesha, Council Grove, Augusta and Erie.
The Lady Tornadoes started their season on Thursday, Aug. 27 at Fort Scott. Eureka claimed the team title with a score of 256. Lady Tornado Hall placed fifth with a score of 59; Pennington placed eighth with a 61 and Langer placed 12th with a 63. Endress shot a 73.
Eureka was scheduled to compete at Sierra Hills on Tuesday, Sept. 8 and will travel to Caney on Monday, Sept. 14.
