To Be Grand Marshals For Severy Labor Day Parade

This weekend, the annual Severy Labor Day event will be held with Eddie and Sharon Hurt being this year’s Grand Marshals.

The couple, who recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, spent most of their lives in Severy. They now enjoy retirement with gardening, fishing, some woodworking, and most of all, time with family. They have three children, Staci (Tim) Todd, Traci (Casey) Smith, and Troy (Angela) Hurt, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren who they truly love to spend time with.

The Hurts are honored to have been selected as this year’s Grand Marshals for the 2026 Severy Labor Day parade, which will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 7.

The annual Severy Labor Day Celebration will begin this Saturday, Sept. 5 with a Kids’ Fishing Derby at Severy Lake from 8-10 a.m. and continue through the afternoon of Monday, Sept. 7.

Events include: (Saturday) fishing derby, mud volleyball tournament, movie night; (Sunday) cornhole tournament, gospel singspiration, softball game; (Monday) biscuit and gravy breakfast, annual parade, turtle races, kids races, car show and much more.
