On August 20, a Greenwood County Jail inmate attempted to hang himself inside the facility. According to the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, detention staff responded immediately, provided emergency aid, and requested medical assistance. The inmate was transported to the Greenwood County Hospital and subsequently airlifted to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita for further treatment.
The inmate was released from Wesley Medical Center on Aug. 21 and has since been returned to the custody of the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident remains under administrative review, and no further details will be released at this time.
