Loren (Scates) Campbell Jr. passed away at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, on Aug. 13, 2026 with his life partner, Sarah Phillips, by his side. Junior was born in Wichita, on Oct. 31, 1963 to Sue and Loren Campbell Sr. who both preceded him in death. His brother, J.E. Scates, also preceded him on Jan. 1, 2015. He is survived by his life partner Sarah Phillips of Derby; brothers Randy and wife Marcy of Cypress, Texas and Carl and wife Pam of Eureka; nieces Nikie Scates, Kodi Scates, Katelyn Scates and Lynna Darden, along with many cousins and second cousins who he loved.
Junior graduated from Eureka High School in 1982 and went on to attend Butler County CC. Once out of school, he lived and worked in the Eureka area for many years before settling down in Derby, where he lived at the time of his death.
Junior survived a tragic motorcycle accident right after his high school graduation and had many surgeries and complications. He lived most of his life in a lot of pain but never complained about it and kept a positive attitude through the years.
Junior was a gentle soul and a wonderful brother! He requested cremation with a Celebration of Life, which will be held on Thursday, Aug. 27 at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, in Eureka.
