The Howard City Council meets bimonthly on the first and third Mondays of the month. The following report was generated from the official minutes of the Aug. 3 meeting, which were approved during their most recent meeting.
Mayor Brad Baumgartel called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. at the Howard City Office with council members Susan Galvan, Shilo Crupper, Derek Cookson, Nick Miller and Gary Harrod present. Also present were City Attorney Kristin Hutchison and City Clerk Joanna Hunter.
The council approved the July 20 meeting minutes and approved payment of bills, totaling $84,128.71, after reviewing city financial reports.
The council also approved to disburse $13,158.82 of Elk Co. tax remittance to the Howard City Library and tabled action on an ordinance to the next council meeting.
The purchase of the recommended printer with extra drawer for billing cards for $2,375 was approved.
The council also approved the adoption of the Uniform Personnel Policies and Guidelines for the City of Howard and the Job Descriptions as revised July 2026.
Other discussion included code compliance regarding mowing, fencing, appearance of properties, vacant and derelict buildings; security camera; and weed control and herbicide.
The meeting adjourned at 8:33 p.m.
The council also met on Monday, Aug. 17. The next Howard City Council meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 7:30 p.m. at the Howard City Office. This meeting was previously rescheduled due to Labor Day falling on its regular meeting date. The Sept. 9 meeting will begin with the 2027 RNR hearing and 2027 budget hearing.
