Eureka area residents have several opportunities this fall to gain lifesaving skills through free and affordable community training classes.
Greenwood County Hospital (GWCH) will host a free “Stop The Bleed” community class on Thursday, Aug. 27 from 6-8 p.m. at the Eureka Public Library.
The free class will provide hands-on education on how to recognize and respond to life-threatening bleeding.
Community CPR classes will also be offered. The first class was held on Tuesday, Aug. 18. Additional classes will be held from 6-8 p.m. in the hospital basement on Wednesday, Sept. 30; Tuesday, Oct. 27; Thursday, Nov. 19; and Thursday, Dec. 10.
The CPR classes will be taught by Beth Whitehead, BSN, RN.
There is a $40 fee per participant. The fee is not paid to GWCH, but will go directly to the training organization. Whitehead works with and covers the participant’s American Heart Association CPR certification upon successful completion of the course.
These classes provide community members with an opportunity to develop valuable skills that could make a difference in an emergency. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of these training opportunities and share the information with family, friends and neighbors.
