The Madison/Virgil USD 386 Board of Education met on Aug. 10. The agenda and the minutes of the July regular meeting were approved. The board also approved Business by Consent, current Accounts Payable totaling $505,367.70, the Treasurer’s Report, Activity Funds Reports and the March, May and June REC minutes.
The following items were approved: Safe and Secure Schools grant; 202627 Elementary Student Handbook; 2026-27 Jr/Sr High Student Handbook; 2026-27 Staff Handbook and the USD 386 Facilities Usage Agreement.
The Revenue Neutral Rate (RNR) Hearing was approved to be held on Sept. 14 at 5:30 p.m. with the Budget hearing to follow at 5:45 p.m.
The board approved Shane Watts and Jannette Luthi to serve on the 2026-27 Negotiations Committee and selected Amy Hind to serve as the 2026-27 KASB Delegate to represent USD 386.
Information items discussed were: DCS/ Survey results; sewer lines; Elementary cooler; scoreboard; District Needs Assessment and FFA Agreement. Updates were given regarding MES maintenance projects and on the beginning of the school year; Jr/Sr High Open House and Coaches/ Parent meeting.
Multiple executive sessions were held regarding non-elected personnel and teacher contract negotiations. After returning to open meeting, the board approved Lucie Celte as PreK-3 Aide for the 202627 school year.
The next meeting of the Madison/Virgil USD 386 will be held on Sept. 13.
