It’s rather simple - I’m a battle-tested, proven leader. I’ve served through every type of balance of power in Topeka - different makeups of philosophies in the Senate, divided government, unified government, etc. Regardless of the setup, I know how to get things done and have the track record to prove it.We must be able to hit the ground running and deliver for the people.And delivering for the people means delivering for rural Kansas — places like Greenwood County — not just the big cities.

2. How do you prioritize competing demands with limited resources?
The first step is governing with a mindset that respects the taxpayers, because it’s their money. You have to ask several questions: Is this a good idea? If it is a good idea, does government have a role? If government has a role, can we afford it? And if we can afford it, is this the best way to spend it?
Another key principle is to have checks throughout the process.That’s why we passed legislation this year to root out waste, fraud, and abuse from our public benefit programs.
3. If elected, what would your top three priorities be during your first year?
First, solve the property tax crisis. Kansans are being taxed out of homes they’ve already paid off, and young families can’t afford to buy in. My Homeowners’ Bill of Rights caps runaway increases, protects seniors on fixed incomes, and gives taxpayers the power to fight back.
Second, ensure our schools — K-12 and higher education — are student-focused and prepare our kids for real success, whether that’s college, a trade, the military, or the workforce.
Third, grow our economy: lower taxes, fewer regulations, and more good-paying jobs, so life gets more affordable and our kids can build their futures right here in.......

Marlo and I are blessed to have six children and eight grandchildren, and all of them are choosing to live in Kansas.When I am asked “why” I am doing this – that’s the why. I want their future and every Kansan’s future to be full of opportunity right here in our state – to work, to raise a family, to go to school, to start a business, or to retire. Let’s get to work!
