- by Haddie Mae Seaton, reporter The monthly meeting of the Madison Pacesetters was called to order by President Caylin Luthi on June 28. Pate Shankie led the club in saying the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-H Pledge. The roll call was “What is your favorite fair project?” Roll call was answered by 23 members, three cloverbuds, and two leaders. A quorum was present.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read aloud by Secretary Jorja Beeman and were approved by signing by President Caylin Luthi. The treasurer’s report was given by Wyatt Hoag. The reporter’s report was given by Haddie Mae Seaton. There will be a council report meeting on July 15. Brynn Roth informed the club that if you wish to become an ambassador, online applications are due Sept. 2.
Ty Gaines gave his leader’s report. He told the club that there is still one more spot to fill for building watch. There is also a trash duty time slot that also needs to be filled. (Let Gaines know if you are up for helping!) He also told everyone who participated in the Hog Roast that everyone did a great job and it was a big success. Fair entries were due July 1. On July 8, there was a photography photo mounting board at the Catholic Church at 6:30 p.m. Consultation judging times open on July 2 and July 6. It opened for horse participants on July 2. It opened on July 6, for the rest of the 4-Hers. July 13 was fair clean up at 6:30 p.m at the Greenwood County Fairgrounds. On July 18, photography judging and the horse show. July 20 is when you can learn how to model if you are in the clothing project. Fashion Review judging is on July 22, all day. Then at 7 p.m. it is open to the public at Madison High School. Static cards will come closer to fair and make sure you get those from a leader before fair. Gaines reminded everyone to bring their club shirts to the fair to wear on Monday and meet in the arena at 12:30 p.m. to take a club photo.
There was no old business. In new business, the club moved to pay for new fair livestock cards. The club also moved to pay for food bags and photoboards. As a club, the group moved to have a pizza party on July 27 at the fair. They then moved to pay the bills.
The gavel was then passed to the Vice President Cooper Luthi for the program. Happy Birthday was sung to Gage Gibson, Carver McDonald, Emma Fankhauser, Sherry Roth and Molly Hurlburt.
The gavel was then passed back to President Caylin Luthi for the remainder of the meeting. Cooper Luthi moved to adjourn the meeting by saying the 4-H motto, and the motion passed. Howdy Seaton led the club in saying the 4-H motto and the meeting was adjourned.
The next meeting is at the Fair Grounds on July 27, at 12:30 p.m. in the showbarn.
