A Hamilton teen is recovering from injuries after being in a UTV rollover accident on Tuesday, July 7.
According to the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, the accident took place at approximately 2:35 p.m., just north of Hamilton on Highway K-99. Deputies, Greenwood County EMS, and Eureka Fire Department responded to the scene.
Authorities said a 2025 Polaris Ranger towing a trailer carrying a mower was traveling southbound when the driver lost control, causing the utility vehicle to roll. The UTV then slid off the roadway into the west ditch. Although not confirmed by the Sheriff’s Office (due to the driver being a juvenile), Facebook posts from the family identified the driver as Braxton Turner of Hamilton.
Per scanner traffic, passers-by who arrived at the scene were able to remove Turner from beneath the overturned UTV and begin providing care until emergency responders arrived. Scanner traffic noted that Turner had reportedly stopped breathing, and those at the scene were unable to detect a pulse. Turner was transported by Greenwood County EMS to Greenwood County Hospital, in Eureka, where he was then airlifted to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita for further treatment. The family updated social media on Sunday, July 12, sharing that Turner had been released from the hospital and had returned home to continue the recovery process.
