Eureka resident Tammi Burtin was recognized Friday, July 10, as the second Community Member of the Month for 2026 for her continued efforts to improve the community.
The nomination read, “Tammi gives to so many charity events unselfishly. She is a Girl Scout Leader, Active Member of her Church, Treasurer of Eureka Business Women, an EJSHS Alumni and Employee that always goes above and beyond her given duties. She is an owner of Wade’s Fireworks and never fails to give back packages of fireworks to patrons. I have known Tammi since her birth and not once have I witnessed a time she wasn’t smiling or doing for others. This is just a layer of the many things she has done. Tammi Burtin is a true leader and blessing to our Community!”
Outside of the organizations listed above, Burtin also currently serves as the secretary for the Babson Foundation and as the chair for the Greenwood County Hospital Foundation.
As a monthly recipient, Burtin will now be eligible for Community Member of the Year, which will be voted on by residents in December 2026 and January 2027. Also receiving the monthly honor this year is Tonya Casper.
Community members may nominate individuals for Community Member of the Month by using the QR code or submitting their name/ contact info, the nominee’s name/contact info and the reason for the nomination to news@eurekah erald.com. Forms are also available at The Eureka Herald, Lo Mar Drive-In and the City of Eureka water office. Individu als named Community Member of the Month in 2025 are not eligible for the 2026 honor but will again be eligible in 2027. Those receiving the special honor during 2025 included: DeLacy Mitchell, Laura Wallace, Connie Mitchell, Larry and Jo Evans, Christine Mouer and Michele Seeley.
