WELCA met July 2 at the Christ Lutheran Church Bell Tower Room. Joni Booth called the meeting to order. Sue Erickson gave devotions from Psalm 91, plus a reading “Where Is God?”
Roll call was answered by eight with a Bible verse. The minutes of June 4 were read by Secretary Erickson. Booth gave the treasurer’s report for Rene Wiggins.
The program was quilts shared by members and guests: Sue Ellen Wenthe, Mary Ellen Forbes, Margaret Spires, Erickson and Booth.
Quilt designs included: Wedding Ring, Crazy Patch, Log Cabin, Embroidery, Crochet and Appliqued.
Erickson shared an article from The Eureka Herald, dated 1976, about the Norwegian women in northwest Greenwood County starting the original Lutheran Church Bazaar. This November, the WELCA group will celebrate the 100th Bazaar on Nov. 21.
The group will not meet in August. At the Sept. 3 meeting, Wenthe will give devotions, Booth will give the program and Amy Schouten will provide refreshments.
The meeting adjourned with The Lord’s Prayer in unison.
