The Babson Midwest Memorial Foundation, Inc. held its annual meeting on June 9. President Troy Richardson called the meeting to order. Tammi Burtin read the minutes of the 2025 annual meeting. Greg Colangelo, CPA, reviewed the December 31, 2025 year-end report and Steve Spore, gave the treasurer’s report; all were approved as presented.
Deb Burtin, Corporate Secretary gave a scholarship report. President Richardson announced that prior to the meeting current Vice-President, Linda Hendrickson had given her resignation from office and that Nancy McKenzie had accepted to fill that position. It was approved for the slate of officers to include: Richardson, President; McKenzie, Vice-President; Spore, Treasurer; Burtin, Secretary, and Board Members will be Michael McClintick, D.O., Karen Engle, Irlene Huntington, Keith Ball, and Diltz Lindamood.
Richardson presented Hendrickson with a Bulova mantel clock for her 40 years of service with The Babson Midwest Memorial Foundation.
Spore also shared that the Babson Midwest Memorial Foundation received a sizeable donation to its scholarship fund. The donation came from Sharyl Cummings, who left Eureka shortly after graduating from Eureka High School.
After earning a teaching degree in college, Cummings taught mathematics and physical education. The blue skies, deserts, and mountains eventually drew her to Tucson, Ariz., where she currently lives.
Because of the solid education she received here and the warm, friendly people, she wanted to return something to Eureka. She credits this background with her successful career.
Her donation will help the Foundation continue providing financial assistance to students in Greenwood County.
