THYRA Drew More Than 1,100 Entries Across First Two Weekends

The Top Hand Youth Rodeo Association (THYRA) series is off to a strong start, with young competitors from four states participating during the first two weekends of competition.

A total of 530 entries were recorded during Weekend #1, while Weekend #2 saw participation grow to 615 entries, highlighting the continued popularity of the youth rodeo series.

Weekend #1 Champions In the Peewee division, Monroe Johnson of Mound City and Oaklynn Wedman of Piedmont captured top honors.

The Junior division was led by Reagan Schoneberg of Edgar, Neb. and Dally Kraft of Gridley.

Intermediate champions were Kamdon Barnett of Iola and Dally Umphenour of Pleasanton.

In the Senior division, Heath Schull of Parker and Bayleigh Benjamin of Toronto earned All-Around titles.

Weekend #2 Champions Senior All-Around honors went to Creed Shannon of Humboldt and Hope Miller of Madison.

Kamdon Barnett of Iola continued the season by claiming the Intermediate All-Around title, joined by Mayley Decker of Reece.

The Junior division featured a close race, with Sterling Mahlandt of Udall earning one All-Around title while Dally Kraft of Gridley and Kodi Barnett of Iola tied for the other championship spot.

In the Peewee division, Monroe Johnson of Mound City added another All-Around title, while Tegan Johnson of Blue Mound also claimed top honors.

The next THYRA weekend will be held at Eureka Saddle Club arena on July 4-5.
