Kansas Offender Registration Fee Increasing July 1 Under SB487

Registered offenders across Kansas will see an increase in their quarterly registration costs beginning July 1 as a result of newly enacted state legislation.

The Kansas Legislature has approved Senate Bill 487, which establishes a new statewide offender registration fee. Under the law, individuals required to register as offenders will pay an additional $10 fee during each quarterly registration period.

The increase raises the total quarterly registration cost from $20 to $30 for offenders who register in the county where they live, work or attend school. The fee is mandated by state law and will be applied uniformly across Kansas.

Officials with the Greenwood County Sheriff's Office are encouraging affected individuals to prepare for the change and to contact the office if they have questions regarding the new fee requirements.

Registered offenders who live, work, or attend school within Greenwood County can contact the Greenwood County Sheriff's Office or Compliance Deputy Blake Fisher for additional information at 620-583-5568.

The new fee structure takes effect July 1 and will apply to all required quarterly registrations moving forward.
