Wyatt Kelly, who was injured when a horse fell on him during the Top Hand Youth Rodeo in Eureka on Saturday, May 30, continues to receive treatment and evaluation from doctors.
According to his sister’s Facebook post, he suffered compression fractures in his spine, minor bleeding and fluid around his pelvis, and a head laceration that required staples. His head CT scan came back clear, and doctors found no internal bleeding from the impact of the saddle horn to his abdomen.
However, his abdomen is swollen and extremely tender, raising concerns about a possible internal injury. A surgical team is preparing to perform a laparoscopic procedure to identify the source of the problem.
The family appreciates the continued prayers, support, and concern for Wyatt as doctors work to better understand and treat his injuries.
