With less than a week remaining before the filing deadline for the August primary election, candidates seeking local, state and federal offices are encouraged to complete their filings before the deadline.
Locally, positions up for election include County Commissioners for Districts 1, 2, and 4, as well as township clerks and Republican precinct committeemen and committeewomen. In addition, a number of state and national offices will be on the ballot, including United States Senator, United States Representative (districts to be determined), Governor and Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, State Treasurer, Commissioner of Insurance, and State Board of Education Member (district to be determined).
Candidates wishing to file for office and appear on the August primary ballot must do so by 12 p.m. on Monday, June 1.
Those interested in filing for election may do so at the Greenwood County Clerk’s Office, 311 N. Main.
