Madison/Virgil USD 386 Board Of Education

The Madison/Virgil USD 386 board of education meets on the second Monday of each month. The following report was generated from the unofficial minutes, which are subject to board approval.

The Madison/Virgil USD 386 Board of Education held their regular meeting on May 11 at 6 p.m. The April minutes and the updated agenda were approved.

Superintendent Dallas Woolf recognized Carolyn Davis for organizing the Scholarship/Signing Assembly, Justin Redeker for his work on the Athletics/Academics banquet, the Madison Lyons Club for providing the dinner and Amber Redeker and Francie Reed for completing the LETRS training in 2 years.

The Business by Consent, current Accounts Payable totaling $94,367.80, treasurer’s report and activity fund report were all approved.

The board approved the following items: Option I KASB membership renewal for the 2026-27 school year; KASB Legal Assistance Fund for the 2026-27 school year; KASB Policy Services Option 2/Tier 2 for the 2026-27, 20227-28 and 2028-29 school years; Piper-Sandler as the Bond Management company for a potential bond project; adopting IIBGC Staff Online Activities policy as recommended by KASB.

Information items discussed were Pathways, DCS Door Inspection, State FFA, Unbound Gravel, grant updates-Safe and Secure Schools grant, Graduation, and Maintenance.

Principal Amanda Schild discussed MES activities. Girls Golf in the Fall was also discussed.

The board held an executive session with administration for 5 minutes to discuss student matters. After returning to open meeting, no action was taken.

Two executive sessions totaling 40 minutes were held with the board and Superintendent Woolf to discuss negotiations regarding teacher contracts. No action was taken after returning to open meeting.

A 10-minute executive session was held with the board and administration regarding personnel matters for non-elected personnel to discuss employee performance. After returning to open meeting, the board accepted the resignation of Zach Nuessen as the High School Boys Basketball assistant coach and to approve Jori Weakley as Pre-K teacher for the 2026-27 school year.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:37 p.m. The next meeting of the Madison/ Virgil USD 386 Board of Education will be held on June 8 at 6 p.m.
