West Elk Class Of 2026 Future Plans And Scholarships Announced

WestElkHighSchoolClass of 2026 will be embarking on their next chapter of life soon. Following is a list of each graduate’s plans and scholarships they have received, as submitted by Debbie Zellner, West Elk High School Scholarship Coordinator.

Juliana Bartram – Cowley Community College – Certified Nursing Assistant.

Brock Baumgartel – Butler Community College – Diesel Technology. He received the Tom Devlin, Minard Monical, Severy High School Alumni Association and West Elk High School FFA scholarships.

John Bliss – Seeking Employment.

Heath Dick – Seeking Employment.

Radley Evans – Salina Area Technical College – Automotive Technician. He received the American Legion Carter Rader Post #0149, Hope Masonic Lodge Essay 2026 Contest, Howard State Bank, Kansas Masonic Lodge – Legacy State and West Elk Alumni Association scholarships.

Lucian Fosnight – Seeking Employment.

Garrett Gardner – United States of America Army.

Molly Harshman – Flint Hills Technical College – Dental Hygiene. She received the Elk County Community Foundation, Flint Hills Technical College – Bluestem, R.E. French Family Educational Foundation, Kenneth Klepper Memorial, Piedmont United Methodist Church and Methodist Women, Severy Community Activities, West Elk High School FFA, and West Elk High School Yearbook scholarships.

Baylee Hogan – Labette Community College – Radiology Technician. She received the Richard Adams Memorial, American Legion Auxiliary Carter Rader Unit #0149, Pat Brogan Memorial, Caney Valley Electric Cooperative, Glenn and Joyce Coble Memorial, Elk County Farm Bureau, Four County Mental Health Center, Howard Alumni Association, Labette Community College – Merit, Martin Family Memorial, United Postmaster and Managers of America - Kansas Chapter – State Level, Don Richard Memorial, Severy Community Activities, West Elk Alumni, West Elk High School FFA, and West Elk High School Yearbook scholarships.

Trentin Hughes – Missouri School of Taxidermy - Taxidermy.

Rachel Humphrey – Emporia State University – Early Childhood Education. She received the Bank of Commerce, Better Business Bureau – National Level, Glenn and Joyce Coble Memorial, Elk County 4-H, Elk County Community Foundation, Emporia State University – Presidential Scholars, Elks Most Valuable Student State Award, Hope Mason Lodge Essay 2025 Contest, Ernest Frank Horn, Jr. Memorial, Jan and Dick McMillian, WEEPats - West Elk Elementary Parents and Teachers, West Elk Booster Club, West Elk High School FFA, SAEOP/West Elk High School National Society, and the James and Alberta Young Memorial scholarships.

Landen Johnson – United States of America Army.

Joshua Landers – Independence Community College – Computer Science.

Lane Ledford – Seeking Employment.

Jackson Lee – Independence Community College – Sports Management. He received the Home Bank and Trust scholarship.

Edward Metcalf – Cowley Community College – Emergency Medical Technician. He received the Caney Valley Electric Cooperative - Leadership Camp, FCCLA – 2025 Kansas Teen Traffic Safety Conference Essay, and the West Elk High School FFA scholarships.

Roman Moreno – Wellspring School of Allied Health – Massage Therapy Intrinsic Health. He received the Pat Brogan Memorial, Kyle Nevil Memorial, West Elk Booster Club, and the West Elk High School FFA scholarships.

Sydney Mott – Seeking Employment.

Mylie Nault – Emporia State University – Early Childhood Education. She received the Delta Kappa Gamma, Tom Devlin - Emporia State University – Presidential Scholar, Helping Hands, Minard Monical Memorial Chapter R PEO, WEEPats – West Elk Elementary Parents and Teachers, and James and Alberta Young Memorial scholarships.

Landon Stangl – Butler Community College – Emergency Medical Technician.

Trace Toon – North Central Kansas Technical College – Heavy Machine Operator. He received the Tom Devlin, Helping Hands, Kansas Promise Act, Minard Monical Memorial, and the Piedmont United Methodist Church and Methodist Women scholarships.

Jared Tucker – Pittsburg State University – Pre-Medicine. He received the American Legion Carter Rader Post #0149, American Legion Samsung – State Award, Elks Most Valuable Student – State Award, R. E. French Family Educational Foundation, Hagan Foundation – National Award, Kansas Heroes, Tim Perkins Memorial – Kansas State High School Activities Association Citizenship Award, Pittsburg State University – Great Gorilla Academic Achievement, SAEOP/West Elk High School National Society, Severy High School Alumni Association, West Elk Booster Club, West Elk High School FFA, West Elk High School Play Productions, and West Elk High School Student Council scholarships.

Garett Usry – Pratt Community College – Electric Lineman. He received the American Legion Carter Rader Post #0149, John C. Beitz Memorial, Tom Devlin, Minard Monical Memorial, Pratt Community College – Rodeo Team, and West Elk High School FFA scholarships.

Elizabeth Woods – Northwestern Oklahoma State University – Registered Nurse. She received the American Legion Auxiliary Carter Rader Unit #0149, American Legion Samsung – State Award, American Red Cross, Daughters of the American Revolution Esther Lowry Chapter – Citizenship Award, Elk County 4-H, Famie Garrison Memorial, Grenola Community Club, Hagan Foundation – National Level, Howard High School Alumni Association, Northwestern Oklahoma University – Freshman Academic; Ranger Preview Day; Salutatorian, PEO Star – National Level, Tim Perkins Memorial – Kansas State High School Activities Association Citizenship Award, Royal Neighbors of America, Grenola Chapter, SAEOP/West Elk High School National Society, Severy Community Activities, Severy High School Alumni Association, V.F.W. Post #2712, West Elk High School FFA, and James and Alberta Young Memorial scholarships.

As of May 19, the West Elk High School Class of 2026 has been awarded area scholarships at an approximate value of $60,800 and a total of scholarships and grants of approximately $409,000.
