
Melba Jean Yost, 75, of Rosalia, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026.
Melba was born on February 6, 1951, in Eureka to Ernest Elmer Beye and Zerita Marie Stice. She spent her younger years attending elementary school in Fall River and high school in Fredonia.
Melba was first married to Dale Spaht, the father of her three children. Later in life, she married Joe Yost, whom she lovingly shared many years with until his passing in 2017.
She was a woman who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Melba loved westerns and had quite an impressive collection. She enjoyed taking drives around town, working through puzzle books, and knitting for those she cared about. She will be remembered for her quiet spirit, her hobbies that brought her comfort, and the love she shared with her family.
She is survived by her loving children, Dale Jr., of Joplin, Mo., Wanda Spaht, of Rosalia, and Larry (Marsha) Spaht, of El Dorado; her grandchildren, Shelby Cody, of Anthony, Ketelyn Creely (Dorian Goertz) of El Dorado, Ambur Creely, of Wichita, and Zerita Spaht, of El Dorado; her great-grandchildren, Dennis Patterson, of Herrington, Pyper Goertz, of El Dorado, Roman Goertz, of El Dorado; her siblings, Virginia Stough, of Mulvane, Mildred Toliver, of Cherryvale, Clyde Beye, of Winfield, Arthur Beye, of Cherryvale, sister-in-law, Kathy Beye.
Melba was preceded in passing by her parents, her husband Joe Yost, her siblings Eldon Beye, Glenn Beye, David Beye, Stella Marie Dill, Melvin Beye, and her grandchildren Rebecca Cody and Savanna Cody.
Visitation took place on Tuesday, May 19, at Carlson Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. A graveside service will take place on Wednesday, May 20, at Blankinship Cemetery in Rosalia.
Memorial donations in her name may be directed towards Carlson Funeral Home to help defray funeral expenses.
