The Eureka High School golf teams stayed busy last week, competing in three events, including hosting the Eureka JV 2-Man Scramble.
Twenty-two teams participated in the JV scramble on Monday, May 4, with Eureka golfers turning in strong performances. The duo of Wacey Ross and Caden Nusz earned a fourth-place finish with a score of 39, while Maddox Hughes and Tyson Coon followed closely in fifth place with a 40.
The varsity team traveled to Humboldt on Tuesday, May 5 for the Humboldt Invitational, where the Tornadoes finished with a team score of 406.
Mason Hughes led Eureka with a round of 94, followed by Maddox Hughes at 96. Ross shot a 106, Easton Mead shot 110 and Coon finished with a 116.
On Thursday, May 7, the Tornadoes traveled to Fort Scott to compete in the Uniontown Invitational.
Ross highlighted the day for Eureka, shooting a 91 to earn a 10th-place individual finish. Mason Hughes added a 98, while Henry Perrier carded a 100 and Mead finished at 101.
Eureka traveled to Humboldt on Monday, May 11 for the Tri-Valley League meet. The Tornadoes will compete in regional action on May 18 in Pittsburg with hopes of advancing to the State Golf Tournament in Winfield.
