Miley Baumgartel, a senior at Eureka Junior/Senior High School, has been named a Top 3 finalist in Kansas for her Sheep Production Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE).
She will learn the final results at the Kansas State FFA Convention at the end of May.
Baumgartel was previously selected as the Southeast District FFA Sheep Production Proficiency Award winner in March.
Her SAE is an entrepreneurship project focused on producing both breeding and market lambs. What began as a small operation centered on learning basic sheep management has grown into a structured agricultural business.
Baumgartel manages breeding decisions, tracks performance and financial records, and focuses on improving flock genetics. She also raises market lambs, emphasizing feed efficiency, rate of gain, and preparation for exhibition and sale.
Through her project, she has developed skills in animal care, record keeping, marketing, and business management, while also working with mentors and utilizing family resources.
