The junior high track teams delivered a strong showing at both the Neodesha Invitational on April 27 and the Eureka Invitational on April 30. Across both grade levels, student-athletes earned multiple top finishes and setting new records.
Tornado eighth grader Kaylee Palmer set a new record in the 200M Hurdles. Fellow eighth grader Andee Weatherby set a new record in the FlinnFlier Javelin.
In the seventh grade division, Molly Dehlinger and Owen Combs both broke the record in the 200M Hurdles.
Following are the individual placings for Tornado participants: Neodesha Invitational Eighth Grade Girls
The eighth grade girls scored 30 points and placed seventh out of 11 teams.
*Kaylee Palmer set a new record for the new event 200M Hurdles with a time of 38.98.
Natalie Pennington placed third in the Long Jump with a jump of 12’ 9.5”.
*Andee Weatherby placed 2nd in the Discus with a throw of 67’ 9”; placed 1st in the FlinnFlier Javelin with a throw of 89’ 1”. This throw beats her current record throw of 75’11”.
Seventh Grade Girls
The seventh grade girls scored 61 points and placed fourth out of 10 teams.
Khloe Crisswell placed 1st in Shot Put with a throw of 30’ 6.75”; and placed 1st in the FlinnFlier Javelin with a throw of 99’ 10”.
*Molly Dehlinger set a new record for the new event 200M Hurdles with a time of 39.84.
Emma Henley placed second in the 3200M Run with a time of 20:25.17.
Mia Ptacek placed 2nd in the 100M Dash with a time of 14.68; placed 1st in the 200M Dash with a time of 31.01 and placed 1st in the 400M Dash with a time of 1:11.06.
Eighth Grade Boys
The eighth grade boys scored 78 points and placed fourth out of 10 teams.
Cord Adkins placed 2nd in the High Jump with a jump of 4’ 10”.
Maverick Welsh placed 2nd Place in the Long Jump with a jump of 16’ 2”.
Henry Lindamood placed 3rd in the 3200M Run with a time of 18:03.64.
Felix Neill placed 3rd in the 800M Run with a time of 2:36.36; placed 1st in the Pole Vault with a Vault of 6’ 0”.
Marcus Pearce placed 2nd in the 400M Dash with a time of 58.97.
Cooper Wunderlich placed 4th in the 3200M Run with a time of 18:39.24.
Seventh Grade Boys
The seventh grade girls scored 48 points and placed fifth out of 10 teams.
*Owen Combs placed 3rd in the 200M Hurdles with a time of 34.86. This sets the record in this new league event.
Jessn Ogden placed 3rd in the Triple Jump with a jump of 28’ 10.75”.
Blake Wells placed 2nd in the 3200M Run with a time of 14:41.38; placed 2nd in the 200M Dash with a time of 28.05.
Eureka Invitational Eighth Grade Girls
The eighth grade girls scored 26 points and placed eighth out of 10 teams.
Kaylee Palmer placed 2nd in the FlinnFlier Javelin with a throw of 78’ 10”.
Andee Weatherby placed 2nd in the Discus with a throw of 81’ 0”; placed 3rd in the FlinnFlier Javelin with a throw of 75’ 1”.
Seventh Grade Girls
The seventh grade girls scored 39 points and placed fifth out of 10 teams.
Khloe Crisswell placed 1st Place in Shot Put with a throw of 33’ 2.5”; placed 3rd in the FlinnFlier Javelin with a throw of 74’ 1”.
Molly Dehlinger placed 2nd in the Long Jump with a jump of 12’ 11”.
Eighth Grade Girls
The eighth grade boys scored 51 points and placed fourth out of 10 teams.
4 x 100 Meter Relay, comprised of Maverick Welsh, Felix Neil, Cord Adkins, and Marcus Pearce, placed 1st with a time of 51.01.
Cord Adkins placed 2nd in the High Jump with a jump of 4’ 10”.
Maverick Welsh placed 2nd in the Long Jump with a jump of 15’ 8”.
Marcus Pearce placed 3rd in the 400M Dash with a time of 58.80.

Jessn Ogden placed 1st in the Long Jump with a jump of 14’ 11.75”.
Blake Wells placed 3rd in the 200M Dash with a time of 27.7; placed 2nd in the Triple Jump with a jump of 32’ 1”.
The Tornadoes concluded their season on Tuesday, May 5 at home, as they hosted the Tri-Valley League meet. Results will be included in next week’s edition.
