The Eureka Tornado softball team hosted two doubleheaders last week, first facing Bluestem and then Central of Burden. Eureka was unable to come away with a victory and move to this week’s action with a 1-11 overall record.
Bluestem
Eureka faced the Lions of Bluestem on Monday, April 20, dropping both in high-scoring softball games, 12-28 and 10-11.
In the first game, Eureka built a 12-5 lead by the fourth inning, highlighted by a two-RBI triple from Madelyn Miller, but Bluestem responded with big fifth and sixth innings to pull away. Miller and Milly Koop each had two hits.
In the second game, Eureka narrowly fell 10-11 despite three hits from Miller, including a triple and double. Eureka led 6-2 early and later tied the game in the sixth, but Bluestem scored the go-ahead runs in the seventh. Koop added two hits.
Central
Eureka dropped both games against Central on Thursday, April 23, 5-8 and 5-9.
In game one, Eureka jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first behind hits from Miller and Taryn Burk, but Central rallied. Eureka totaled 11 hits, led by Arabella Shepherd’s three-hit game, while Amorette Guillaume and Brooke Johnson added two hits each.
In game two, the Lady Tornadoes briefly led 2-1 after RBI singles from Burk and Elaina Osborne, but couldn’t keep pace. Burk finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Abbi Foth struck out five over seven innings. Also collecting hits for Eureka were Guillaume and Miller.

Eureka will travel to Cherryvale this Thursday, April 29 to take on the Chargers in a doubleheader. Eureka will host Erie on Monday, May 4, for one varsity and one junior varsity game. Games are slated to begin at 4:30 p.m.
