The Eureka Herald Won 10 Awards in KPA Excellence Contest

On Sunday, April 19, the Kansas Press Association (KPA) announced the results of its 2026 Awards of Excellence (AOE), with The Eureka Herald earning honors in 10 categories.

This year’s entries were judged by journalists, photographers and designers from Kentucky. The Herald competes in Division III, which includes weekly newspapers with a circulation between 1,001 and 1,500.

The Eureka Herald

received two first-place awards, in Editorial Writing and Best Agricultural Ad (E. Boone Auctions). The newspaper also earned one second-place award for Best Community Event Ad (Eureka Nursing Center Easter Egg Hunt).

In addition, The Herald captured seven third-place awards: News Story (“Eureka’s Joel Edmondson to Be Inducted into National Rodeo Hall of Fame”); Best Professional Service Ad (B.E. Mowing & Tree Service); Government/ Political Story (“Heated Conversation at Eureka City Council Meeting”); Best Front Page; Local Business Story (S&L Hardware); Best House Ad (“Year in Review”); and Most Adaptable Promotion (“Open Meetings Act”).

Awards will be presented at the 2026 KPA Convention in June in Hutchinson.
