Baseball Struggled Against Humboldt, Neodesha

The Eureka Varsity Tornadoes endured a difficult stretch last week, dropping four games to Humboldt and Neodesha while struggling to generate offense.

Eureka opened the week with back-to-back losses at Humboldt on Tuesday, April 14, falling 0-15 and 0-11. In both contests, Humboldt surged ahead early and never looked back. Eureka pitching was tested immediately, as Humboldt plated eight runs in the first inning of the opener and added steady offense throughout the game. In the second matchup, a six-run second inning put Eureka in another early hole.

Despite the lopsided scores, Eureka managed limited offensive production. Tristan Milner, Brody Mitchell, and Tate Scott each recorded hits in the first game, while the team struggled to string together scoring opportunities. On the mound, Haden Allen and Mitchell combined for multiple strikeouts but were unable to slow Humboldt’s momentum.

The challenges continued on Thursday, April 16 against Neodesha, where Eureka lost both games, 2-9 and 2-12. Neodesha jumped ahead early in both contests.

Eureka showed brief flashes offensively, including an RBI effort from Cruz Escareno and Scott in the 2-9 loss. In the second game, Jean-Philippe Guillaume drove in a run to give Eureka an early lead, but Neodesha responded quickly and pulled away with a seven-run fifth inning. Up Next
