Brenna Rucker has etched her name into the record books, capping off a remarkable high school basketball career by breaking eight school records and establishing herself as one of the program’s all-time greats.
Rucker set a new career scoring record with 1,275 points from 20222026, surpassing the previous mark of 1,169, set by Taylyn Schwartz from 2007-2011. Her consistency at the free-throw line helped her set a single- season free throw percentage of 86.7% this season, breaking the previous record of 82%, set by Ashley Singhateh in 2022-23. She also set a new career free throw percentage record at 80.6%, surpassing the former standard of 71.8%, set by Haley Pitko from 2008-2012.
From beyond the arc, Rucker proved to be a constant threat, knocking down 151 three-point shots over her career to claim another record. Defensively, she tallied 272 career steals to set a new benchmark, which was previously set in 2013 by Ashlen Schwartz, and her 108 season steals in the most recent season ranked her at the top single-season performances in school history, which was also set by A. Schwartz in 2005-06. She totaled 303 career assists, breaking the previous record of 202 set by Lindsey Sowder in 1994-1998, and pulled down 590 rebounds, tying the school’s career rebounding record with Sunny Valentine (2003-04).
As a team, this year’s squad showcased its allaround dominance by setting new marks in total points, 3-point shots, free throw percentage, steals, assists and rebounds. Additional details on page 8.
