Eureka varsity softball went 1-2 on the week, dropping two games to Caney Valley (3-14 and 1-18) before earning a walk-off win over Flinthills.
Against Caney Valley, Eureka showed strong offense in game one with 11 hits, led by Brooke Johnson and Amorette Guillaume with three each. Madelyn Miller, Elyssa Wood, and Milly Koop each drove in runs, but pitching and defensive struggles allowed 14 runs. Lady Tornado freshman Abbi Foth pitched all six innings, facing 41 batters. She allowed 7 hits, 7 earned runs and collected 2 strikeouts.
In game two, Eureka was limited to three hits, with Taryn Burk driving in the lone run as they fell 1-18. Foth, Arabella Shepherd and Koop took to the mound in the second game.
Eureka responded with an 8-7 walk-off victory over Flinthills. Burk delivered the game-winning two-run single in the seventh. Koop had a standout performance with four hits, while Miller drove in three runs. The Tornadoes finished with 11 hits and used a late rally to secure the win. Eureka’s Foth pitched all seven innings and faced 34 batters. She allowed 6 hits, 4 earned runs and struck out 4.
The Lady Tornadoes also faced the Mustangs in a junior varsity matchup.
