A Fall River woman is facing a wide range of criminal charges after prosecutors filed a complaint alleging repeated drug and theft offenses over a period of nearly two years, while she was serving as a clerk at the Fall River Post Office.
According to court documents, Catherine R. Ivey has been charged with 20 counts, including multiple felony drug offenses and misdemeanor theft charges. The allegations span from August 2023 through February 2025. Ivey resigned from the position following the allegations.
Prosecutors allege that Ivey was involved in the unlawful possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute on numerous occasions. Each of these charges is classified as a Level 4 drug felony under Kansas Law.
The complaint lists alleged incidents occurring periodically over the twoyear span, including dates in August, September, October, and November of 2023, as well as additional incidents in 2024 and early 2025.
Authorities claim that each instance involved less than 25 grams of marijuana but was accompanied by intent to distribute, elevating the severity of the charges.
In addition to the drug-related charges, Ivey faces multiple counts of theft. These charges allege that she knowingly took or exercised unauthorized control over property belonging to the United States Postal Service.
The items in question are described as Priority Mail Tyvek envelopes, each valued at less than $1,500. The alleged thefts occurred on dates that closely match the timeline of the drug-related accusations.
Each theft charge is classified as a Class A nonperson misdemeanor.
The complaint also includes two charges related to drug paraphernalia. One is a Level 5 felony alleging possession of paraphernalia with intent to distribute, while the other is a Class B misdemeanor alleging possession for personal use.
Both charges stem from incidents in late 2024 and early 2025 and involve a marijuana smoking pipe, according to court filings.
Ivey appeared in Greenwood County District Court on Tuesday, March 31, where a $50,000 cash/ surety bond was set, which Ivey later posted and was released. Her next appearance will be for a preliminary hearing on Friday, April 10, at 1:30 p.m.
