Toronto News -

Aren’t the lawns beautiful right now? Many shades of green, dandelions, henbit, and a multitude of tiny flowers. My Star of David’s bloomed Saturday just in time for Easter. And speaking of green grass, all the places that were burnt off recently have come back in beautiful shades of green.

What happened in the north Atlantic on April 15, 1912?

We got some much needed rain Wednesday night. I heard we got 2 1/4” in Toronto that night. It rained on other days also, but Wednesday night it really came down. It was raining so hard at times I thought it was hailing, luckily we didn’t get any of that. We had some excitement Friday evening. As storm clouds were building and dumping rain the tornado siren went off. Then, like every good Kansan, I grabbed my camera and hurried out onto the back porch to see what was going on. All joking aside, the siren was accidentally set off here when the Yates Center sirens were set off. A tornado was spotted west of Yates Center and another touched down north of Yates Center. Thankfully, no one was injured and there was no property damage.

Members of our Volunteer Fire Department were out in different areas watching the storm for potential danger. These men and women do so much more for our area than just fight fires.

We offer our sympathy to the family and friends of all who lost loved ones his past week. May they all rest in peace.

Hello to all in area nursing and assisted living facilities. Hello also to all in area hospitals and rehab centers.

There was a good turnout for the Booster Club Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday morning. Lots of kids eagerly awaited the signal to start hunting for the eggs.
